- Airflow is essential for efficiency – If your air doesn’t flow freely, your high-efficiency A/C isn’t living up to its potential. Airflow is often impeded by an improper duct sizing or layout. But it’s also possible that restrictive grilles or an improperly matched air handler may be the cause.
- Refrigerant charge shouldn’t be overlooked – A disproportionate number of homeowners often forget to account for their air conditioner’s refrigerant charge. If undercharging or overcharging has occurred, the efficiency will go down. For best results, consult with an HVAC professional.
- Ducts must be tight to maximize efficiency – The last thing you want when it comes to your ducts is the development of holes. - Oversizing may be common, but it’s still not good – Choosing the right size high-efficiency A/C for your home can be a bit tricky. If the unit’s too small, you’ll strain it without even making your home comfortable. If it’s too big, you’ll waste energy when you don’t need to.
